Reflex Party

Two quick reflex events to play with friends on one screen: be first out of the stalls as soon as the gates open, and mash your key all the way to the line. Everyone gets a key, a controller or a pad on the phone; playing alone, the CPU fills the lanes.

Guide

How to play Reflex Party

A pixel-art reflex minigame to play together: 2 to 4 players on one computer, phone or tablet, or you alone against the CPU. It is played in rounds of two events, Perfect Start and Button Mash, and whoever scores the most points wins.

How to play

  1. Choose who takes each of the four places (a person, the CPU or nobody) and their Uma out of the 40. Each person has a key, Q, P, Z or M; on a phone, their pad under the track; controllers work too.
  2. Choose the events (both in turn, or only one), how many rounds and the CPU level, then press «To the track!».
  3. Perfect Start: after «Get set…», the gates open when nobody expects it. Press as soon as they open: whoever is out first wins, and under 0.18 s is a perfect start. Press before they open and it is a false start, with no points that round.
  4. Button Mash: after the countdown, press your key (or tap your pad) as fast as you can. Each press takes you closer to the line, and 40 get you there. Whoever gets there first wins.
  5. Each round, the winner scores one point for each rival (3 with four lanes), the next one less, and so on down to the last, who scores none. At the end comes the podium, with the best times of the match.

Difficulty levels

Easy
The CPU is slow to react, never jumps the gun and presses slowly.
Normal
The CPU reacts fast, sometimes jumps the gun and presses at a good pace.
Hard
The CPU is out like lightning, risks more false starts and mashes very fast.

Questions

Can I play alone?
Yes. Put the CPU in the other places and choose its level: on Easy it is slow to react and never jumps the gun; on Hard it is out like lightning but sometimes jumps too soon. There must be at least two Umas on the track.
How do four people play on one phone?
Under the track there is a pad for each player, and the screen counts several fingers at once, so everyone taps their own. In portrait, the four pads sit in two rows. On a computer, everyone uses their key, and connected controllers work too.
What happens on a false start?
Your Uma stumbles in the stalls and you get no points that round; the others race on. The CPU can make false starts too on Normal and Hard.
How is the time measured?
In Perfect Start, from when the gates are seen open until you press, in thousandths of a second. In Button Mash, from «Go!» until your press number 40. If the tab goes out of view mid-round, the round is called off and played again.
Which Umas can I play with?
40 pixel-art Umas, each with her animations: crouching in the stalls, sprinting, stumbling and, when she wins, a celebration of her own.
Where are my scores kept?
Only in this browser: bests, daily challenges done and day streaks. No account needed, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Do I need to pay or sign up?
No. The games are free, need no account and work on mobile.
